Sterling and Argentium Silver Collar Necklace in an Art Nouveau Style, Vintage-inspired Pearl Necklace with Hand Forged Silver Links

This flowing, Art Nouveau-inspired silver collar necklace will delight you with its understated elegance. Hand forged argentium silver links form a decorative bib dotted with baroque freshwater pearl drops. The curving, flowing links channel the Art Nouveau characteristic of "line" and echo nature subjects like flowers, vines, and other delicate and sinuous natural objects so prevalent in the art and jewelry of the movement. Antiqued silver metal and white pearls create a monochromatic color scheme that allows the rhythmic, undulating line to dominate. I pictured it in my mind like the border embellishments in vintage lithographs.

Crafted in argentium silver, sterling silver, and cultured pearls. I used Argentium silver for the focal links that form the bib. Argentium fuses to itself with heat (no solder). Fusing the points where the wires touched allowed me to stabilize the links, so they would not pull apart (like an accordion). The links are connected with sterling silver jump rings. A sterling silver wire wrapped pearl, 4 x 6mm, links the patterned bib to the necklace chain. A single 9mm semi-round pearl dangles from the center.

This beautiful Art Nouveau-inspired pearl necklace has a slinky, luxurious drape. It is designed to be worn short against a bare neckline or unembellished smooth top. The pattern will show best this way. I’ve finished it to about 18 inches long. The wavy link at the center is ½ inch wide. The pearl drop adds another ½ inch. I can shorten the necklace to fit you correctly.

The necklace closes with my handmade sterling silver hook and eye. Total length is 1 inch.
