This unique artisan pendant necklace features a handcrafted bezel-set fossil coral stone with fireworks or starburst patterns in neutral gray, black, and brown tones. The pendant is displayed on a handmade gemstone chain that suggests the mysteries of space.
When I saw this fossil coral (agatized coral) stone cabochon the word “starburst” immediately came to mind. In Astronomy, a starburst is a region of unusually high star formation. A star nursery, if you will. The starburst symbol, a star with radiating rays around it, has come to mean “radiance, energy, creation, and new beginnings”.
I made a sterling silver and fine silver bezel setting for the teardrop shaped fossil coral stone. The back plate is stamp-textured with stars and swirls for extra stellar imagery and energy. It is also stamped “handmade” and “925”. I like jewelry that has special, and sometimes hidden details like this. Something special for you to know and love about it that is yours alone (Unless of course you choose to show it to someone). I antiqued the silver to complement the dark grey of the focal stone.
The pendant is displayed on a 22 inch sterling silver necklace chain, half of which is a handmade station chain using 4mm round gemstones of obsidian, matte black onyx, natural banded black onyx, and crystal quartz, and 6mm coppery black-brown mother of pearl stars. The necklace closes with my handcrafted sterling silver hook and ring.
