Tapered sterling silver wire wrapped earrings present a brilliant skyscape of aqua blue amazonite, cloudy white matte agate and bumpy stick pearls. Inspired by cloud shapes and subtle colors on brilliant blue spring skies, these sinuous wrap earrings are perfect for spring and summer accessorizing.

 

SIZE

  • 2 7/8 inches long from the top of the handmade ear wires
  • Spherical beads in three diameters, ~3/8, ~5/16, and ~1/4 inch
  • Stick pearls measure 1/4 inch wide by 3/4 inch tall

DETAILS

I hand wired three round gemstone beads of graduated size in sterling silver wire. There are 10mm amazonite, 8mm round matte white lace agate, and 6mm round matte white agate. The wire passes through all three stones, forming a wrapped loop at the top. I then took the long tail and swept over and around each bead in sinuous fashion, adding a little space between stones and alternating silver s-turns down the stack. A Biwa pearl in lovely iridescent white, dangles free at the bottom. Its bumps and ridges look like roiling clouds. 

Though I had blue skies in mind as I made these earrings, the lovely aqua color of amazonite also generates a spa-like mood or that of tropical waters. For both these images, I included these dangle earrings in my Earth Day collection.

White agate is a stone of balance and release. It is credited with harmonizing an individual's feminine and masculine sides, helping the body release toxins and building the immune system.
