Shimmering Blue Flash Moonstone Handcrafted Pendant on Gemstone Beaded Strand

A shimmering blue flash rainbow moonstone handcrafted pendant necklace with gemstone beaded strand. This artisan necklace, "Shimmering Wonderment", attempts to express the sparkle of stars, the glow of a nebula, the magic of moonlight, the magnetic beauty of the aurora through the earthly wonder of shimmer gems! Rainbow moonstone, moonstone, and labradorite are stones that express wonderment, holding secrets you’ll discover the longer you own a piece.

I crafted a tab setting in sterling silver sheet metal for a rainbow moonstone pear cabochon. This focal stone flashes in aqua, blue, and blue-violet hues. The pendant setting was hand sawn to provide fingers/leaves where the stone nestles at the bottom and three tabs for a secure mount. I textured the back of the pendant (and so the front of the tabs where they show) with a universe of spirals and stars. A contrasting copper rivet glows like a red giant star and secures the sterling silver hanging bail bedecked with a star on the front and back.

The handcrafted pendant measures about 17 x 42mm. It is presented on a beaded neck band of 2-4 mm moonstone, rainbow moonstone, labradorite, and amethyst with copper and sterling silver seed beads. The beads are randomly strung with a predominance of rainbow moonstone and moonstone beads that flash blue, violet, and orange.  A 4mm round mother of pearl bead decorates the handmade eye of the handmade sterling silver hook and eye closure.

Clasped on the eye, the necklace is 20 inches long. The pendant drops 1 ¾ inches. A 2 ¾ inch long sterling silver extender chain is provided for slightly longer length wear.
