Nature-Inspired Earrings with Hummingbird Charms, Turquoise and Tourmaline Gemstones

Whimsical nature inspired earrings celebrate the wonder of hummingbirds and the delightful sight in summer. A great little gift idea for your garden-lover, too, who plants and plans her flower garden with the birds and pollinators in mind.

I made these charm dangle earrings with silver plated pewter hummingbird charms, tiny turquoise pebbles, and pink tourmaline faceted rounds. The hummingbirds are mismatched, one is a charm with an eye for hanging, the other is a bead that I had to wire a loop through to hang. To make the birds flutter at about the same length from the ear hooks, the hummingbird bead dangles from a short length of sterling silver chain. This also gives each earring a subtly different motion as they dangle.

The turquoise and tourmaline gemstones dangle sweetly in the space above the birds, so they look like flowers in your hanging baskets being visited by hummers on a summer day.

With the exception of the hummingbird charms, all the metal is sterling silver with a dark oxidized patina. I made the ear hooks from sterling silver too.

1 1/2 inches long, each earring weighs 2.2 grams.
