Here's a pair of unique moonstone hoop earrings in rustic antiqued patina copper. They'd make a very special June birthstone gift for a favorite woman in your life.
I love to pair rustic hand worked metal and wire with what I consider gemmy gems like moonstone. I think the contrast gives the subtle moonstone flash a chance to reveal itself, and I can play with more lavish designs with the metal and not break the bank (mine or yours)!
For these boho statement earrings I first made the circular wire component in heavy copper, texturing it with hammer marks and creating a dark brown and somewhat iridescent patina. The oil slick colors in the copper will likely not last as the metal ages to an even brown color but still it’s pleasing when you catch it as the hoops move - kind of like the color flash in the moonstones.
I embellished the copper hoops with 3mm microfaceted rainbow moonstone rounds neatly wrapped to the frame. An angular five-sided rainbow moonstone briolette dangles within the copper hoops. Two lapis lazuli copper links connect to my handcrafted sterling silver ear hooks. These beauties will dangle and sway and make you feel like the gem that you are.
