Mauve and Cheddar Orange Stone Earrings, Sonoran Dendritic Rhyolite Earrings in Copper

Here's a pair of natural stone earrings in unusual colors that are perfect for fall. Sonoran dendritic rhyolite stones are cheddar orange with intricate lines in mauve, burgundy and creamy white. Accenting the irregular oval focal stones are creamy white ocean jasper drums, and mauve or dusky purple sonora dendritic rhyolite rondels. The rhyolite stones have a smooth semi gloss shine that has a natural "river rock" feeling. I love the unexpected colors and fern-like patterns. Each little burgundy or purplish line seems surrounded by a thin white halo. I chose the accent stones because they blended with the color scheme. The dark copper wire wrap and daisy spacer beads bring some bright metallic highlights but don't stray far from the orangey color palette.

Sonoran dendritic rhyolite is mined in rugged country in Mexico's state of Sonora, Just south of Arizona and California. It has become a popular lapidary material since 2011 when it was the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show's "Stone of the Year". (see for more).
