March's birthstone, aquamarine, is a perfect choice for the month of changes. Winds blow, snow melts, new growth stirs, and blossoms emerge. So much going on. I used natural aquamarine stones to express “airiness” or the breezy vibe we associate with March in this knotted cord gemstone necklace.
I paired mixed color natural Aquamarine 8mm rounds in straw yellow, brilliant aqua, pale airy blue and white and introduced some bare-ground March earthiness with blue calcite and golden sage agate. The 8mm beads frame a trio of cushion cut ~20mm square blue aquamarine stones.
The necklace is strung and hand knotted on nylon jewelry cord in a beige color that gives each stone some space to shine, as well as affording the necklace a luxurious, fluid drape.
This aquamarine necklace would make a March birthday gal happy. It's a fresh take on the beautiful birthstones.
