Handcrafted Rustic Copper Earrings with Sunstone and Moonstone

These handcrafted, rustic copper earrings are dressed up for summer outings with faceted sunstone rounds and peach-tinged moonstone teardrops. Hand wired in solid copper, each earring comprises a copper wire work element, three microfacted round sunstone gems, and a faceted teardrop of slightly peach moonstone. Neat wraps of wire secure the gems to the copper frame and add depth and highlights to the design.

I enjoy contrasts in designing jewelry and one contrast I employ often is pairing “fancy” faceted gems with rustic, hammer textured metal with darkened patinas. It might be because while I love delicate, fancy, “formal” jewelry, I also want something that suits my much more laid back and casual lifestyle. Perhaps you do as well.

• 6-7 to 13mm faceted Moonstone briolettes

Part of my summer SOL! Collection, these earrings play with a softer, sun-kissed palette compared to the dominant bright orange and yellow colors used in most of the collection. The gemstones I chose for these earrings evoke the rare soft light of a misty morning as the sun begins to “burn” off the fog. The colors also remind me of creamsicles - a taste of summer to be sure!

Sunstone is pinkish orange with bright glittery reflections, and the moonstone drops are ever-so-slightly tinted peach and display a foggy, luminous glow. They’d be lovely worn with a white or aqua teal outfit or mixed and matched with any sunny, summertime colors.
