Hammered Silver Earrings with Turquoise and Coral, Long Sterling Silver Dangle Earrings

Long dangle earrings are handcrafted from sterling silver and accented with genuine turquoise and red coral chips. Hammered silver rectangles reveal interesting surface dimples and multiple reflections for bold appeal when worn. The sterling silver, turquoise, and coral ornament swings on artfully crafted sterling silver ear hooks adorned with a spiral fluorish. If you like modern design and the hallmarks of true handcrafting but your heart lies in the American southwest, then you've found yourself in these silver earrings.

Hammered Silver Rectangle Earrings

  • Constructed using 0.925 silver wire and sheet
  • Genuine turquoise and red coral chips add a touch of the Southwest
  • Hammered texture and high polish
  • 2 3/8-inches long or 60mm

I formed thin (about 0.5mm thick) sterling silver sheet into a pair of matching rectangles, about 3/8-inch wide by 1 1/4-inches long (10 x 32mm). I carefully filed and sanded the edges, punched little holes for the ear wires and the gemstone dangle and then started hammering the silver. I used a flat chasing hammer first, then a ball peen hammer making random dimples across the surface. Hand polishing and tumble polishing ensured there were no sharp edges and gave the silver a bright shine.

Sterling silver, turquoise, and red coral are a classic Southwest combination. I chose red coral branch chips and little turquoise gemstone nuggets to decorate the silver rectangles. The free-form shapes of the gems adds interesting contrast with the geometric lines of the earrings.

All my jewelry is lovingly and meticulously crafted in my South Park Colorado home studio.
