A lovely pair of green garnet earrings handcrafted in copper, features a spiral design worked into the headpins.
I love making small earrings special with handcrafted elements, natural gemstones, and textures that set them apart from the ordinary. Perhaps it's because I wear smaller ear adornments myself, especially in winter. I don't want to lose my earrings due to “push out” from a high turtleneck sweater, or in removing a scarf, beanie or winter jacket and hood.
These copper earrings feature 7 x 10mm faceted green garnets and bronze heishi I domed a bit to make them into beadcaps. The stones and cap are strung together on my handmade and hammer-textured copper spiral headpins. I gave the copper pieces a dark antique patina that is really quite lovely with the olive-brownish-green garnets. My handmade copper ear wires have a cute, pixie shape and hammered texture carefully applied along the drop, keeping the wire round where it rests in your piercing.
