ADDITIONAL DETAILS

To form the copper from flat wire to twisted and curved, I worked the copper strip wire using various hammers on a heavy pine block. The strip was curved top to bottom first then twisted along its length. I love how the shadows and highlights of the polished copper give a sense of movement even at rest. As the earrings took shape in my hands, I thought of the cool wind sculptures and windchimes I've seen and figured the name was apt. Turquoise and polished copper are beautiful together and so evocative of the windy landscapes in the west and southwest.

To keep the copper looking bright, you will need to polish it from time to time.
