These coiled copper earrings with neutral color gemstones are right out of a science fiction lovers brain. Well, my brain, and my hands.
I was having some fun spiraling copper strip wire that I had textured with stars and moons with no particular design in mind except the curl of the copper and the design weaving in and out of view. When I stretched the curls out and decided to put a string of gemstones inside, I saw them differently.
What we have here, people, is a passage through space-time. These earrings will afford the wearer travel speeds faster than the speed of light! You could even go back in time. Honest. And this is where the disclaimer goes. No, they won't. Wormholes are not real....yet.
I created these science fiction worm hole earrings using ⅛ inch wide pure copper strip wire. I textured the wire with a repeating pattern of stars and crescent moons, then curled the strip over a mandrel, finally stretching it to a length and diameter that I liked. I antiqued the copper and tumble-polished it to bring out some highlights. Inside the coil I hung a string of 3mm microfaceted round gemstones - labradorite, pyrite, and hematite - along with a 2mm sterling silver bead, strung on torch balled copper wire headpins that I made.
The rocket-shaped ear hooks are also handmade by me in sterling silver with an antiqued patina.
